About the event

Join to learn more about the Kern Gateway Trail and to see for yourself what a beautiful and unique outdoor amenity it will create for the Kern County / San Joaquin Valley region. RSVP to get your name on the list.


This site visit will include a talk from community members and an National Park Service Rivers Trails and Conservation Assistance Program staff member who have been working to make the Kern Gateway Trail a reality. There will also be a short walk to see a portion of the trail and get exposure to its dramatic beauty.


The group will start across highway 178 from Upper Richbar Picnic area (35.47544786313091, -118.72442708091069). There is a pullout to park is just past where Stark Creek goes under 178 if coming from Bakersield.


Please bring outdoor/hiking shoes, water, a hat, sunscreen, and clothing appropriate for the weather.
